As a professional who works with team
building on a regular basis I find that it is often hard to come up with unique
and fun activities that youth are likely to engage in. For many youth involved,
playing the same games over and over again is not fun and the reality is that
there is less learning and more horseplay when a game is played one too many
times.
I am trying to take an approach
that guides team building experiences that youth and adults alike can learn
from. Some of my best “learning
experiences” are those times when we did something fun that wasn’t exactly a
learning activity or a step by step “leadership activity” In fact, I find that
the majority of my successful games are the ones that youth have more fun with!
I hope to jump start your own creativity
for adapting your own program whether it is camp counselors, junior fair board
or any other teen leadership groups. If you have questions, comments or wish to
share the programming you have done please feel free to connect with me on
facebook or by emailing me. Youth, if you find an activity
that you really enjoy, please also feel free to share that experience with me!
I love to hear about what you like and what you don’t!
